How To Elope at The Wedding Tree

• Reserve the Wedding Tree on the Friends of the Bridger-Teton website. You can reserve it for between 1-5 hours. It costs $307.06 regardless of how long you reserve it for, and the fees go directly toward preserving the area.
• Choose a date and time considering the time of year you’re eloping, sunrise/sunset time, preference, and other plans for the day.
• Show up and celebrate! Seriously, it’s that simple.

The Rules of The Wedding Tree

The Wedding Tree is located on National Forest land, not inside the Grand Teton National Park boundaries. So the rules are a bit more chill, but there still are rules.

• Guest count in maxed at 75 (standing only except for special circumstances for those needing a portable chair)
• There are no bathrooms (the closest ones are at the bottom of the mountain, so make sure to take a pitstop on the way up!)
• Dogs ARE allowed!
• Limited to no cell service
• No amplified sound (speakers, sound system, microphones)
• No props (arches, lights, balloons, rugs, tables)
• No scattering or releasing things (flower petals, birds, balloons, birdseed, butterflies, confetti)
• No parking in the grass or along the side of the road

Tips & Tricks

When it comes to planning your elopement at the Wedding Tree, your experience is the most important part. The weather, guests, date, time and so forth can change, but what you’ll always remember is how you felt. When it comes down to it, throw the traditional script out the window and do whatever you want:

• Write vows that make each other laugh AND cry (share them during the ceremony or privately)
• Before your ceremony, visit the Wedding Tree and privately read your vows to each other
• Hire an accustic musician (or few) to play your favorite songs on the violin, cello, guitar, etc. to add a personal touch
• Choose an officiant that fits your vibes…fun and joking, serious and reverent, or a mix of it all (Need recs? I got you.)
• Have your doggos sign your marriage license with their paw (absolutely precious, and YES! Dogs are allowed!)

• 1:30 PM – Finish getting ready
• 2:30 PM – Drive to The Wedding Tree where your guests are eagerly waiting
• 3:15 PM – Arrive at the parking lot, grab your bouquet, take a deep breath of the fresh mountain air, and start your walk down the “aisle”
• 3:20 PM – The ceremony
• 3:50 PM – Photos with family and friends
• 4:10 PM – A few private minutes alone to take in the emotions and the views
• 4:20 PM – Epic couples portraits
• 5:00 PM – Head back down the mountain to meet your friends for dinner
